— about

A small studio in Buffalo that names its price and keeps it.

thesitenerds is an independent software studio. We build custom websites and software for local businesses at a fixed price, agreed in writing before the work starts. Half up front, half when it launches, and the finished site belongs to you.

— the founder

I build the software companies run on. A local business should get the same care.

I’m Julian. I’m a software engineer — I’ve spent years building the internal tools and web applications real companies run their operations on. Along the way I kept meeting small businesses and nonprofits doing good work and quietly losing customers, donors, and volunteers to a website nobody had touched in years.

A website quote is an easy thing to distrust when the number keeps moving. So I fix it before I start: one price, agreed in writing, no hourly billing and nothing that renews on its own. Every project ships in accounts under your name — your site, your photos, your customer data — so nothing depends on me still being around.

You deal with the person who builds your site, not a salesperson who hands it to someone else once you’ve signed. It stays small on purpose, so I take on work I can actually finish.

— how we build

Real software.
Not a template.

Your site is built as plain HTML, CSS, and images — hand-built pages, not a page builder, and no plugins to break or update. That is what makes it fast, cheap to keep online, and impossible to lock you out of. You get the repository and the accounts; any competent developer can pick it up without asking me anything.

It is served from a global edge network, which for a site your size costs nothing at all. You edit your own text and photos through a simple editor that writes changes back to your repository, so the content is yours in a form that outlives this site, this host, and me. Email runs through Resend. Bookings, payments, and donations run through whatever service you already use, in your own account; I never handle the money.

When a project genuinely needs a database and customer logins, I build that too — Go and Postgres, the same stack used inside companies that can’t afford downtime. That is quoted separately, and I’ll tell you which one you’re describing before you’ve spent anything.

A small site is not a lesser site. The smallest build gets the same care as the software projects — there is no cheap tier where the work gets sloppier.
